Who Is GCFC?

With over 30 years of combined fly fishing experience in OK and the Ozarks, Chance Maxville and Nick Williams are the owners and operators of GCFC.

Chance, a native Okie since birth, has been chasing the old bucketmouth as long as he can remember. As a kid, he did his best to impersonate Bill Dance, but later in life, he made the switch to fly fishing and hasn't looked back. While he loves to chase after brown bass and the transplanted linesides found in the Arkansas River system, he secretly has a love of small trout sipping dry flies. Chance has been a successful guide, off and on, chasing Smallmouth since 2020 with Ozark River Guides. Even though he's fairly short, most fly rods are twice his height, you should still give him a chance!

Nick, a non-native Okie, also started fishing early, chasing the black bass in farm ponds around Tulsa and Washington Counties. Switching to fly fishing in 2010, Nick launched Oklahoma Fly Company in 2014. OKFlyCo grew to become an internationally known, small-batch, fly-tying company specializing in streamers for big, predatory fish. Nick loves fishing streamers for big fish, even if they are trout, and he always makes big fish look small... At least he swears they were big fish.

Chance and Nick have fished across the Ozarks and the US for a variety of species and have connected with many like-minded guides and tyers. It's this combined experience that brought Green Country Fly Company to life and is available in the shop to help you find success on the water!
